ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Spalding University women's basketball team concluded the Cavallo Webster Tipoff Classic Sunday with an 81-45 drubbing of Dominican University (0-2).

The Golden Eagles (2-0) were powered on offense by freshman Kayla Styles' 17 points. Jessica Guy and Maya Hardin also chipped in scoring 11 points and grabbing eight rebounds apiece.

Spalding's defense was the big factor to their success. SU held the Stars to 35.6% shooting and forced 27 turnovers, 16 coming on steals, and the Golden Eagles capitalized scoring 27 points off turnovers.

Similar to Saturday's game, Spalding led from start to finish, Hannah Washle converted 1-of-2 from the line to get SU on the board just three seconds into the game. Following a Kallie Ash three pointer, the duo of Styles and Guy took over scoring SU's next 14 points to put Spalding out front 18-6 just 4:36 into the game.  From there, the Golden Eagles slowly started to increase their lead, pushing it to 23 points to go into the break leading 46-23.

The Golden Eagles opened the second half with back-to-back baskets from Styles to push their lead to 27. SU's largest lead of the game came when Kelly Coburn connected from long range off a feed from Jessie Buckmaster extending their lead to 37 with 1:45 to play.

Spalding made 30-of-67 field goal attempts shooting 44.8% overall, and connected on 4-of-15 (26.7%) attempts from beyond the arc. SU also had a plus 11 advantage on the offensive boards resulting in 14 second chance points.
