Freshman Erin Downs tallied six kills, three digs, and three blocks to lead the Spalding University volleyball team to a 25-7, 25-18, 25-12 sweep of Blackburn College Monday. With the win, SU improves to 10-10 overall and 5-5 in SLIAC competition.

Victoria Heitzman slammed five kills and Kiersten June passed out seven assists as the Golden Eagles cruised to a 25-7 win in the first set.

Thompson, Erin Downs, and Brittany Farnsley tallied two kills each to give SU a 2-0 advantage, winning the second set 25-18.

Spalding took the third set, to complete the sweep. E.C. Burkman recorded five kills, while Katelyn Cosgrove added three to win the set 25-12.

Up next, Spalding will take on Franklin College Wednesday, October 16. First serve is set for 7:00 p.m., ET at Derek Smith Gymnasium (DSG).
