KANSASVILLE, Wis. – Spalding men's and women's golf took part in the Midwest Regional Classic hosted by Benedictine University on Friday and Saturday. Both had very impressive performances across the board.
The women's team placed 6th out of a field of 33 teams. The men's teams placed T-16th and 38th in a field of 44.
For the women's team,
Alexis Seay led the way, carding rounds of 79 and 75 for a total score of 154 (+10). Seay tied for 10th among 190 eligible competitors.
Jordan Harris followed Seay with consecutive rounds of 78 for a total of 156 (+12) and tied 20th.
Madison Harding and
Bailey Birdsell each played well, tying each other and several others for 49th overall. Harding and Birdsell scored rounds of 82 and 83 for total scores of 165 (+21).
On the men's side, Spalding was split into two teams. Team A featured
Ashton Bass,
Augustus Vega,
Brady Westwood,
Kyle Dulle, and
Gustav Cronier. Bass played very well, tying for 36th among 244 competitors. He shot a 74 and 73 for a 147 (+3) overall. Vega followed with rounds of 77 and 75 for a 152 (+8) total, tying him for 91st overall. Westwood tied for 103rd, carding rounds of 75 and 78 for a total score of 153 (+9). Dulle came next for the Golden Eagles, scoring 76 and 83 for a 159 (+15) total. Cronier rounded out Team A with scores of 84 and 76 for a total score of 160 (+16).
Team B for Spalding featured
Ryan Graves,
Taylor Coleman,
JJ Morgan,
Neal Wheeler, and
Ryan Dycus. Graves carded rounds of 77 and 79 for a total score of 156 (+12). Coleman scored an 82 and a 76 for a total of 158 (+14). Morgan and Wheeler each scored a 165 (+21) overall, scoring rounds of 83-82 and 79-86 respectively. Dycus rounded out the Spalding golfers with a 174 (+30) overall score, featuring rounds of 88 and 86.
The Golden Eagle squads will be back in action at the Dan Quayle Match Play Invitational on September 29th and 30th.
