Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Sliter and Tabler lead women's soccer past Lakeland, 10-3

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. – On the back-end of a back-to-back, the Spalding University women's soccer team defeated Lakeland College, 10-3, in a neutral site game, played at England Stadium.  The Golden Eagles moved to 2-1 on the young season, while the Muskies fell to 1-2.
 
32 shots were attempted, 19 on goal, as the Golden Eagles scored a season high 10 goals. The 10 goals were the most since they scored 11 goals on October 20, 2014 vs. Eureka.
 
Two players recorded their first hat tricks of the season on the day. Dee Dee Sliter scored the first goal of the match just after the third minute, assisted by Shelby Lurie, added another in 21st minute, assisted by Hannah Freytag and Alnee Tutson and finished the day with a goal in the 53rd minute, assisted by Baylee Tabler to complete the hat trick.
 
Tabler, who helped Sliter complete the hat trick, had one of her own. She scored a sixth minute goal, another in the 14th minute, assisted by Madison Ratchford, and completed the hat trick with a second unassisted goal in the 89th minute putting the Golden Eagles in double-digits.
 
That wasn't the only scoring as both Madison Ratchford and Paige Snepp added a pair of goals themselves. Julie McGee recorded her first assist and point of the season in the 48th minute. Eight of the 10 goals were assisted on for the Golden Eagles.
 
Ratchford, who collected four points in the win, is now tied atop the St. Louis Intercollegiate Conference, with eight points on the season. 
 
In goal, Spalding had three different goalkeepers, who each allowed a goal. Kelsey Kaiser played the entire first half. Emily Lindsay and McKenna Pfeiffer split time in the second half. 
 
The Golden Eagles next game will be their home opener at Champions Trace hosting Midway College on Wednesday, September 9, at 5:00 P.M. EDT.
