Bridget Yates

Head Volleyball Coach

Coach Yates has served as the Head Coach of Women`s Volleyball at Spalding University since 1998. Her volleyball experience includes coaching in Louisville at Community Catholic School, Derby City Junior Olympic Volleyball Club, MidAmerica Volleyball Academy, Union Volleyball Club, and for USA Athletes International in Amsterdam, Holland and Perth, Scotland.

Coach Yates has led the Spalding team to 13 consecutive winning seasons and was voted the KIAC Coach of the Year in 1999, 2000, and 2001, 2004 and 2006. Yates was also the NAIA Regional 12 Coach of the Year in 2006. Most recently, Coach Yates led the Golden Eagles to three consecutive USCAA National Tournament Final appearances, winning the National Championship in 2008.

Coach Yates played collegiate volleyball at Hanover College in Indiana. She currently resides in nearby New Albany, IN with her daughters Julia and Lilly.

Steve Kennedy

Assistant Volleyball Coach

Steve Kennedy joined the coaching staff in the fall of 2006. Coach Kennedy is an avid volleyball player himself and was a USVBA travel player. His coaching experience includes more than 20 years of coaching several teams with the Louisville Catholic School Athletic Association.

Coach Kennedy also served as the Volleyball Director for St. Bernard for nearly 12 years. Coach Kennedy also coached two seasons of Junior Olympic Volleyball for KIVA.

Steve and his wife Helene have four children, all of whom live in Louisville.

Erin Johnsen

Graduate Assistant Coach

Erin Johnsen will be working with the Spalding University Volleyball team as a Graduate Assistant this year as she works to fulfill her master’s degree in Occupational Therapy. Erin is an avid volleyball player around the Louisville area and has coached high school volleyball at Sacred Heart Academy (’07-’10) and club volleyball at KIVA (’07-present). Erin played Division 1 volleyball at New Mexico State University where she earned All Conference and All Academic honors.
