Hayes/Golden Eagles Snap Westminster’s 30 Game Winning Streak

The Lady Golden Eagles got a huge 71-68 win over Westminster College Saturday afternoon. Spalding handed the Blue Jays their first SLIAC loss since the 2009-2010 season, and snapped their 30 game SLIAC win streak.

The game was close throughout, Westminster led 32-31 at halftime and neither team led by more than 5 points the entire game. The score was even at 68-68 with 8.3 seconds remaining when Kerstin Hayes made the go ahead three point play to give Spalding a 71-68 lead with 2.3 seconds to play. Westminster would get the ball, but were unable to get a final shot off before the buzzer.

Sophomore Jessica Guy came up big for the Lady Golden Eagles recording a double-double. Jessica scored 16 points while grabbing 11 rebounds.
