Head Men’s Basketball Coach

Coach Gray, a Louisville native and Manual High School graduate, became head coach of men`s basketball at Spalding University in 1998. Coach Gray attended the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga, where he was a 3-year captain of the men`s basketball team and the 1976 Most Valuable Player. He graduated in 1976 earning a Bachelor of Science degree in business education. His coaching career began in 1977 as the assistant basketball coach at the University of Alabama where he remained for eight seasons. In 1992, Coach Gray was named assistant coach at Baylor University.

In 1998, Coach Gray returns to his hometown and became Head Coach at Spalding University. Coach Gray posted the first winning season in Spalding University Men`s Basketball History. In only his second season as head coach, Coach Gray finished the season with a record of 17 wins and 15 loses. During the 2001-2002 season, Coach Gray and the Spalding Men`s Basketball team accomplished another milestone by having the first 20-win season in school history with a record of 20 wins and 12 loses.
