Coach Just enters his 6th season as head coach of the Golden Eagle basketball team.  2010-11 also marks his 33rd year as a head coach at both the collegiate and high school levels.  During his 32 year career, his teams have won 621 games while losing only 324.

Coach Just was an All-Region and honorable mention All-State basketball player at St. Xavier High School in Louisville.  He played his college basketball at Ohio Northern University, where he started for four years and earned all-conference honors each of his last three seasons.  He scored 1,245 points during his career and still holds the school record for single-game assists (14) and career assists (414).

Upon graduation from Ohio Northern, Coach Just built a successful program at Mercy Academy in Louisville, winning 183 games while losing only 52 during a seven year period.  His teams won 5 district championships, 3 regional championships and made 3 state tournament appearances, finishing as state runnerup in 1982.  He then became the first full-time head women’s basketball coach at Bellarmine College.  In fourteen years at Bellarmine, his teams won 299 games while losing 105.  They became well-recognized nationally by participating in 8 NCAA Division II tournaments, reaching the Elite Eight four times and the Final Four in 1994.  In 1998, Just made a career change when he assumed the duties of head men’s basketball coach at Bellarmine.  He held that position for four seasons, qualifying for the Great Lakes Valley Conference tournament in each of his last three years.  His 2000-01 team posted the school’s highest GLVC finish in nearly a decade.  Coach Just moved back to women’s basketball in 2003 when he accepted a position at Holy Cross High School.  In his two years there, his teams finished with a 27-26 record and made two appearances in the Kentucky “All-A” State Tournament.  He then assumed the reins at Spalding for the 2005-06 campaign.  After starting slowly in a program that had only had one winning season in school history, his 2008-09 Golden Eagle team reached the pinnacle of success by capturing the United States Collegiate Athletic Association national championship and setting numerous school records along the way.

In addition to his basketball duties, Coach Just also serves as head women’s golf coach and Director of Compliance at the University.

Coach Just and his wife Deanna live in the Fern Creek area.  They have two children, Kate and Kyle.
